On Wednesday, October 21, Mr. David Steiner, the 76th Postmaster General of the United States and Chief Executive Officer of the United States Postal Service (USPS), accompanied by his wife, visited the headquarters of the Postal and Philatelic Service of Vatican City State.
They were warmly welcomed and later accompanied by Fr. Felice Bruno, Head of the Postal and Philatelic Service for the Vatican State. Mr. Steiner had the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into Vatican postal operations, touring the various facilities and learning more about the activities carried out by the Service.
During the visit, Mr. Steiner expressed keen interest in Vatican philatelic products, taking particular note of the stamp issues and distinctive features that make Vatican philately highly valued by collectors and enthusiasts around the world. The discussion also recalled the stamp issue released in 2024 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and the United States of America.
A particularly engaging part of the visit was the tour of the work areas and the opportunity to meet the Service's staff. Mr. Steiner took time to speak with employees, showing great openness and courtesy, as well as genuine curiosity and appreciation for the daily work carried out in the various departments. We are grateful for this special visit.
