The Vatican Observatory: A Dialogue between Science and Faith

Dedicating an issue of this newsletter to the Vatican Observatory is an invitation to discover a reality that is often not well known. The Observatory is a scientific institution linked to the Vatican Governorate that provides scientific expertise, in the service of the Pope. Its origins date back to 1578, when Pope Gregory XIII commissio ned the construction of the astronomical observatory - the Tower of Winds - and invited the renowned Jesuit astro nomers and mathematicians of the Roman College to pre pare the calendar reform, promulgated in 1582, known as the Gregorian calendar.

Christmas and Hope

"The reflections and testimonies of the Pastors of dioceses from every continent, rectors of shrines and leaders of contemplative communities scattered throughout the world—who willingly enriched the Vatican City State Governorate’s magazine dedicated to Christmas —express how hope is lived in everyday life.

The fourth edition of the newsletter is dedicated to cybersecurity

The decision to dedicate this newsletter to cybersecurity is to offer a simple guide to help navigate and protect oneself in a complex and multifaceted reality. We firmly believe that - on a personal level - everyone shares a part of the responsibility to maintain its integrity.

The Jubilee is the theme of the third edition of the newsletter

Dedicating an edition to the Jubilee is most timely, considering the time of grace that began on 24 December 2024. The 2025 Holy Year, “Pilgrims of Hope”, is a unique opportunity to delve deeper into one’s faith and one’s relationship with God.
