Smart lights for the Christmas trees in Saint Peter’s Square and in the Pontifical Villas
To create beauty and “visualize” the mystery
The Christmas trees in Saint Peter’s Square and in the Pontifical Villas have something in common: smart lighting. LED lights that use patented technology for mappable have been customized to create complex and creative displays that recall the stars that lit up the night in Bethlehem on Christmas Eve.
The Christmas tree in Saint Peter’s Square will be lit by 55,000 LED lights, using a technology patented by the Italian company, Twinkly, based on smart lights and an integrated controller, capable of creating unique effects and highlighting the beauty and spiritual meaning of Christmas.
Moreover this year Twinkly, which has collaborated with the Governorate of Vatican City State for three consecutive years, has made a special donation to the Pontifical Villas: professional grade smart LED lights and a smart controller, that allows precise mapping and customized lighting displays.
The contribution includes an intuitive app, with which one can create bright effects that exalt the beauty and spirituality of Christmas.
Light is seen “as a symbol of hope and joy, during a time imbued with profound spiritual meaning”, said Matteo Canepa, co-founder and Head of Twinkly for Business.
As announced, the Christmas tree and nativity scene in Saint Peter’s Square will be officially inaugurated and illuminated on Saturday afternoon, 7 December, by Cardinal Fernando Vérgez Alzaga and Sr. Raffaella Petrini, respectively, President and Secretary General, of the Governorate of Vatican City State. Meanwhile, the Christmas tree and nativity scene in the Pontifical Villas will be inaugurated, three days later.
