Directorate of Telecommunications and Information Systems Collaborates with Villanova University: Meeting with Dean, Professors and Students Arrived for the Second Semester Internship

The Directorate of Telecommunications and Information Systems of the Governorate of the Vatican City State continues its collaboration with Villanova University by hosting, in 2025, students from Philadelphia for the second semester of the academic year. This program, created with the goal of connecting academic research with the practical needs of the Governorate, has once again proven to be a valuable opportunity for both institutions.

During this semester, three students were integrated into different areas of the Directorate’s work. Sophia and Patrick collaborated with the Vatican Museums support team, focusing on optimizing the navigation and content of the 3D virtual tour dedicated to selected museum areas.

Kovas, on the other hand, was assigned to the Internet Provider Service, where he carried out a detailed analysis of the structure of an internal web resource in preparation for the implementation of a new framework. This activity made it possible to identify areas for improvement in both architecture and content management.

As usual, the Directorate organized a meeting with Professors Daniel Joyce and Frank Klassner and Dean Joseph Lennon of Villanova University to share the results achieved. Professor Joyce emphasized the students’ commitment and quick learning abilities, while Dean Lennon appreciated how well the students had been integrated into the Directorate’s workflow, noting that this approach helps shape professionals ready to face real-world challenges. The students themselves expressed great satisfaction with the experience, describing their involvement with the Directorate as an opportunity for both professional and personal growth.

The collaboration undoubtedly represents an added value and opens the door to possible extensions of the program, including the introduction of new areas of activity such as the application of artificial intelligence techniques to enhance the accessibility of digital content. There is a shared conviction that this synergy will have a positive impact both on young people and on the Governorate, paving the way for further projects in cultural and technological innovation.
