The Vatican Postal and Philatelic Service Announces the Philatelic Program for 2026
The Postal and Philatelic Service of the Vatican City State has announced the new philatelic program for 2026, for collectors and enthusiasts worldwide with a broad and well-structured proposal that brings together spirituality, history and current affairs.
The annual program includes the traditional issues linked to the central moments of Church life, among them the series dedicated to the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV, the Easter and Christmas festivities, as well as initiatives of international scope such as the fifth year of the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, the Europa 2026 theme marking the seventieth anniversary of Europa stamps, and the series devoted to the apostolic journeys undertaken by the Pope in 2025.
Alongside these, the program features numerous commemorative issues celebrating religious, historical, and cultural anniversaries of particular significance: from major Marian commemorations and Saints central to the Christian tradition, to anniversaries of pontifical figures, ecclesiastical institutions, and important diplomatic and artistic events that have shaped the history of the Church and the world.
Joint issues are also planned to mark anniversaries of extraordinary importance, such as the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi and the first anniversary of the Pontificate of Pope Leo XIV, bearing witness to dialogue and philatelic collaboration on an international scale.
Completing the philatelic offerings for 2026 are a new series of postal cards and the customary annual volume collecting the entire production of the year.
The program may be subject to updates or changes over the course of the year.
