The Holiday Season ends in St. Peter’s Square: So Long to the Nativity Scene and Christmas tree
The operations to dismantle the Nativity Scene and remove the Christmas tree set up in St. Peter’s Square for Christmas have been completed. As announced, starting on Monday, January 12, after the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord, the dismantling and relocation activities began. These were carried out by staff from the Directorate of Infrastructure and Services of the Governorate, together with the organizers of the Nativity.
The next appointment is for the 2026 Christmas holiday, when the Nativity Scene in St. Peter’s Square will be created by the Italian Association Amici del Presepe [Friends of the Nativity] from the Atessa location, in the province of Chieti. The tree will be donated by the municipality of Terranova di Pollino, in the province of Potenza, and the Nativity Scene in the Paul VI Audience Hall will be set up by the Fondazione Carnevale di Viareggio, in the province of Lucca.
