Sustainable Mobility: Electric Vehicle Rentals for Employees of the Governorate

After expanding and upgrading its electric vehicle charging network, the Governorate has further advanced the “Ecological Conversion 2030” project, launched in line with the commitments made when the State of Vatican City acceded to the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
In its pursuit of more sustainable mobility, the Governorate has extended charging station access to employees of both the Holy See and the State of Vatican City.
To further support this initiative, the Governorate has signed agreements with leading automakers.
Stellantis Group—which includes brands such as Fiat, Lancia, Peugeot, Citroën, Alfa Romeo, Opel, and Jeep—is contributing its mobility expertise through Leasys, which will offer a wide selection of fully electric vehicle models.
The agreement provides for the initial introduction of electric vehicles available for medium‑ and long‑term rental, including maintenance and roadside assistance, and equipped with state‑of‑the‑art technologies to ensure comfort, safety, and reduced environmental impact. This program is specifically aimed at Governorate employees.
Adopting a fully electric fleet aligns with the environmental policies being pursued by the Governorate of the State of Vatican City, supported by the charging infrastructure already in place within the State and a growing awareness of the environmental impact of vehicle circulation—including employees’ personal cars. It represents a tangible commitment to improving climate conditions in the metropolitan area of Rome, within which Vatican City is located.
Demonstrating care for both the environment and its employees, the Governorate once again steps forward as a community working for the common good.
This pilot phase will be monitored to assess environmental and organizational impacts, with the intention of later expanding the initiative to include additional vehicle segments—further strengthening the Governorate’s role as a promoter of innovation and environmental responsibility.
All details on how to join the program will be made available through the “Economic Services and Mobility” office of the Directorate of the Economy, reachable at the following email:
