Cardinal Vérgez Alzaga to inaugurate the Exhibition, “Bernini’s Souls”

Cardinal Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, President of the Governorate of Vatican City State, and H.E. Ms. María Isabel Celaá Diéguez, Ambassador of Spain to the Holy See, will inaugurate an exhibition titled, “Bernini’s Souls” at the Pinacoteca of the Vatican Museums on Tuesday, 19 November.

The exhibition, which will be open to the public until 31 January 2025, is a Jubilee initiative of the Embassy of Spain to the Holy See in cooperation with the Vatican Museums. The Embassy is offering visitors the possibility of admiring two marble busts – Anima Beata and Anima Dannata, (The Blessed Soul and the Damned Soul) by Gian Lorenzo Bernini – which are not usually open to public viewing as they are normally housed inside the Palazzo di Spagna in Rome. The exhibition was curated by Barbara Jatta, Director of Museums and Cultural Heritage, and Helena Pérez Gallardo, from the Complutense University of Madrid.

Among others, the inauguration ceremony will be attended by the curators of the exhibition.
