An International Conference at the Vatican Museums to celebrate the Jubilee of Artists and the World of Culture

An international conference, titled “Sharing hope – Horizons for Cultural Heritage”, will be held in the Conference Hall of the Vatican Museums at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, 15 February. Promoted by the Dicastery for Culture and Education and the Governorate of Vatican City State’s Directorate of Museums and Cultural Heritage, the conference is part of events that have been organized for the Jubilee of Artists and the World of Culture.

Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, and Ms. Barbara Jatta, Director of the Directorate of Museums and Cultural Heritage, will introduce the conference.

Directors of museums and members of the world of art, education and cultural institutions will speak at the conference, which aims to reflect on the current possibilities, methods and language for the promotion and transmission of the religious and artistic heritage. At the end of the meeting, an education manifesto on the transmission of the cultural code of religions will be signed.

The following will speak at the Conference: Massimo Osanna, Director General of Museums at the Ministry of Culture; Gabriele Finaldi, Director of the National Gallery of London; Miguel Falomir Faus, Director of the Museo Nacional del Prado; Kaywin Feldman, Director of the National Gallery of Art, Washington; Christian Greco, Director of the Egyptian Museum of Turin; Salvatore Settis, Alessandro Zuccari and Vincenzo Fiocchi Nicolai, of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (Lincean Academy); Pietro Zander of the Fabric of Saint Peter; Marco Delogu, Director of Rome’s Palazzo delle Esposizioni; Alessandra Di Castro, antiquarian and President of the Apollo Group Association; Pepi Marchetti Franchi, Senior Director of Gagosian; Yan Pei-Ming, artist.

In the afternoon, participants will gather at Via Conciliazione 5 for the inauguration of an exhibition space and the presentation of a project by Maestro Yan Pei-Ming, in cooperation with Italy’s Department of Prison Administration and the community of Regina Coeli prison.
