Charging stations for electric vehicles and plug-in electric vehicles to be installed in the Vatican Car Park by the start of the Jubilee
Accessible to holders of “employee” and “services” badges
Work has begun on the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles and plug-in electric vehicles in the Vatican car park (Petriano). Ten charging stations with 20 ports will be available for “fast” charging, while an additional charging station with two ports for “ultra-fast” charging, will be installed beside the entrance to the Paul VI Hall. The installation of the charging stations is expected to be completed within three months, and be operational by the beginning of the Jubilee year.
The installation plan, by the Directorate for Infrastructures and Services of the Governatorate of the Vatican City State, the first one to be accessible to all holders of “employee” and “services” badges, has the aim of marketing a charging service, alongside the sale of traditional fuels.
The project is part of a wider program to develop a network of charging stations inside Vatican City State. Charging stations have already been installed at various sites, and are currently being used to charge the fleet of electric vehicles used by the Governorate and other institutions of the State. Potentially, the new system can be further expanded to double the number of charging ports (40 for “fast” charging and 4 for “ultra-fast” charging).
Developed with the technical support of Acea Group spa, the installation of the new charging stations is part of the project for electric mobility, connected with achieving the carbon reduction objectives undersigned by the Holy See.
