Sr. Raffaella Petrini, Secretary General of the Governorate of Vatican City State, will be in Houston, as part of a brief journey to the United States, from Friday, 25 October to Sunday, 27 October. On Saturday morning, 26 October, Sr. Petrini is scheduled to deliver a talk at the Lumen Institute, on the theme ,“Mission to change culture” . It will be an opportunity to exchange reflections on cultural changes in the management and administrative area, fostered by the implementation of the principles of Catholic social teaching.
The Lumen Institute was founded 20 years ago by Fr John Connor, current Superior General of the Legionaries of Christ, and three business leaders. It is a Catholic organization aimed at business leaders who seek personal development in character, faith, and leadership, in order to reflect the light (lumen) of Christ in today’s world.
On Saturday evening, Sr. Petrini will meet members of the Texas Chapter of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums at the University of St. Thomas. She will be accompanied by Msgr. Terence Hogan, Coordinator of the Office for Relations with the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums.
The Texas Chapter has contributed to the restoration and preservation of some of the Vatican Museums’ masterpieces, including the micro-mosaics that were transferred from Pius V’s apartment to the Cabinet of the Library and placed into 11 display cases, copies of the paintings of the Roman catacombs and the tapestry, Noli me tangere, by Peter Van Aelst.
