56 Years Ago - Gazing at the Moon in Remembrance of the First Moon Landing

Around the world millions of viewers were glued to their televisions to watch the live broadcast of the moon landing of the Eagle lunar module from the Apollo 11 mission. About six hours later, Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. He was the first man to do so. Buzz Aldrin followed him 19 minutes later. It was July 20, 1969—a date that marked a major milestone in the history of humanity.

Facing Global Challenges

A call for careful discernment so that Artificial Intelligence may become a tool for the common good, promoting dialogue and fraternity. This appeal was made by Pope Leo XIV to the participants of the AI for Good Global Summit 2025, held in Geneva from July 8 to 11.

A Valuable Witness

On the morning of Tuesday, July 15, Pope Leo XIV visited the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception of the Poor Clares in the little town of Albano, located within the territory of the Papal Villas.

As part of AI for Good summit, and at the conclusion of the week organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) within the framework of the WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025, the morning of July 11 featured a particularly significant event: the Ambassadors Roundtable, a high-level discussion platform that brought together ambassadors and permanent representatives from major international missions to the United Nations in Geneva. Among them was Archbishop Ettore Balestrero, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations Office and Specialized Agencies in Geneva.
