A Delegation of the Governorate meets the Secretary General of the ITU at the Pontifical Lateran University
Una Delegazione del Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano partecipa all’incontro accademico con il Segretario Generale dell’Unione Internazionale delle Telecomunicazioni, in inglese con acronimo (I.T.U.), la Signora Doreen Bogdan-Martin. L’incontro è promosso dalla Cattedra Unesco sul futuro dell’educazione alla sostenibilità della Pontificia Università Lateranense, e si svolge, mercoledì mattina, 20 novembre.
A Delegation of the Governorate of Vatican City State and the Secretary General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Ms. Doreen Bogdan-Martin, will participate in a seminar promoted by the UNESCO chair on the future of education on sustainability, at the Pontifical Lateran University, on Wednesday morning, 20 November.
The Vatican Delegation is composed of Mr. Antonino Intersimone and Mr. Luigi Salimbeni, respectively, Director and Deputy Director of the Directorate of Telecommunications and Information Systems, and 10 collaborators of its Internet Service Provider.
The program will begin with a welcome greeting by Archbishop Alfonso V. Amarante, Rector Magnificent of the Pontifical Lateran University. Msgr. Riccardo Ferri, Pro-Rector of the University, will then introduce Ms. Bogdan-Martin, who will answer students’ questions on Artificial Intelligence.
The event will conclude with a visit to the Blessed Pius IX Library.
Prior to the event at the Pontifical Lateran University, Ms. Bogdan-Martin will meet with Cardinal Parolin, Secretary of State, and visit the Vatican Museums, accompanied by Sr. Raffaella Petrini, Secretary General of the Governorate, and Mr. Intersimone.
ITU has 193 members, including Vatican City State, and one thousand companies, universities, research institutes and international and regional organizations
Ms. Bogdan-Martin took office as Secretary General on 1 January 2023, after her election at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, held in Bucharest in September 2022. She is the first woman to lead the organization, which was founded in 1865, and became a United Nations Specialized Agency in 1947.
